website design proposal

Date: 7/18/17

Thanks so much for allowing me to give you a proposal for the Lowe Co. website! I am confident that together we can create a beautiful, inviting, and easy to use website that you can enjoy for years to come! Please let me know if you have any questions after reviewing.

My first step is understanding your brand, goals, and customers, and how your website factors into all of it. I also want to see your inspiration, and even your competition. This stage will give us the foundation for moving forward with just the right recommendations for the design and development of your responsive website.

Once I have all of this information, I'll set to work on the home page design! This will take approximately 2-3 weeks. I'll then show you the design for approval and any changes you'd like to make. Then we will move on to the remaining pages. I will show you each page as it is completed for approval.

Once the design is approved, I will integrate it into your current SquareSpace account. This ensures that your SEO remains in place, as well as your product information, etc.

website suggestions:

The home page will determine the design and layout of the entire website.

I suggest beefing up this page with lots of imagery and maybe some "behind the scenes" of Lowe Co. As discussed in the latest blog, I think infusing Catherine into the brand will bring a fresh energy to the site that the users will LOVE.

We could add in a timeline of the brand, starting with Sean and Catherine's exchanging of notes on the Bachelor, the beginning of the business, first store Lowe Co. was sold in, etc. Rifle Paper Co. has a simple, but great example of this:

3. shop

I suggest adding categories to the shop section, so you can either Shop All, or Shop by Category. I also suggest adding a "Shoppers are also going 'Lowe Co' over..." section on each listing, that basically shows other products within that category.

4. blog

I love the clean layout of the blog! I would suggest adding a blog sidebar, as it's a great place to provide some calls to action. You can link to other areas of the site, your social media, or even use it as a spot to bring on advertisers (if you wish to do so at any time)

5. contact

This page can be fairly simple, but I suggest adding in more photography. I also suggest linking the "Where Else Can You Buy" page on here, and maybe even including an FAQ section on this page?

6. where else to buy ( near you)

I think this page could really be jazzed up with a map drawing with dots on the locations, or little icon for each shop... something really fun!

Other Suggestions:

  • I would add in a Features or Press page showing logos/links where Lowe Co. has been featured.
  • I would add in a Newsletter sign up section (you could call it "Get Lowe"), so you can continue to build your email list. You could even give a free iPhone wallpaper or something as an incentive to sign up! This could be a simple section in the footer or on the Blog.

contract of agreement

Designer: I have the experience and ability to perform the services you need from me and I will carry them out in a professional and timely manner. Along the way, I will endeavor to meet all the deadlines set, but all launch dates or deadlines are also based on your timeliness in providing feedback, supplying materials, and approving or signing off on my work at the given stages. On top of this I will also maintain confidentiality of any information that you give me.

Client: You have the authority to enter into this contract on behalf of yourself, your company or your organization. You agree to provide me with everything that I need to complete the project including text, images and other information as and when I need it, and in the format that I ask for. You will review my work and provide feedback and approval in a timely manner.

I am not responsible for writing or editing any text copy unless specified in the original proposal. If you would like me to write new content or edit text for you, I can provide a separate proposal for that.

If needed, you should supply graphic files in an editable, vector digital format. You should supply photographs in a high resolution digital format. If you choose to buy stock photographs, I would be happy to suggest stock libraries. If you’d like me to search for photographs for you, I can provide a separate proposal for that.

This contract is a fixed-price, however, sometimes things change throughout the scope of a project. If you would like to change your mind or add anything new, great! All additional fees will be confirmed at that point in writing prior to doing the work. The Client must assume that all additions, alterations, changes in content, layout or process changes requested, will alter the time and cost.

I will notify the client prior to the purchase of any additional items, but the client shall reimburse the Designer for all expenses arising from this assignment, including but not limited to Stock Photography, Artwork, and or material needed for the project.

I am not liable to you or any third-party for damages, including lost profits, lost savings or other incidental, consequential or special damages, even if you’ve advised me of them. Finally, if any provision of this contract shall be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this contract and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.

You guarantee that all elements of text, graphics, photos, designs, trademarks, or other artwork you provide are either owned by you, or that you have proper permission to use them. Then, when your final payment has cleared, copyright will be automatically assigned as follows:

  • You will own the visual elements that I create for this project. I will give you source files and finished files and you should keep them somewhere safe as I'm not legally required to keep a copy. You own all elements of text, images and data you provided, unless someone else owns them.
  • I’ll own the unique combination of these elements that constitutes a complete design and I’ll license that you, exclusively and in perpetuity for this project only, unless we agree otherwise. This basically just means that you can't take the design I made for you and sell it to Nike, but otherwise won't impact you.
  • I reserve the right, with your permission, to display and link to your project as part of my portfolio and to write about it on websites, in magazine articles, and in books.

In the event of cancellation of this assignment, ownership of all copyrights and the original artwork shall be retained by the Designer.

I, the designer, agree to complete the website design project for Lowe Co. in exchange for:

  • 1 Instagram post from Catherine's main account that would be LoweCo. focused and reference your business with a tag/caption.
  • 1 Instagram post from the LoweCo. account. showcasing the new website with a tag/caption for your business.
  • A blog post doing a "tips for up-ing your SquareSpace game" or something along those lines where you would be able to talk about your business and talent, etc.

You, the client, agree to fulfill these promotions upon completion of the website project.

You cannot transfer this contract to anyone else without my permission. This contract stays in place and need not be renewed. If for some reason one part of this contract becomes invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts of it remain in place.

The action of the sending and receipt of this agreement via electronic method will hold both parties in acceptance of these terms. The Designer as sender and the client as recipient will acknowledge acceptance of these terms either through an e-mail noting acceptance or acceptance is acknowledged at the beginning of any work on said project. Electronic signatures shall be considered legal and binding.
